Antlion / Components
Components44
Every component in the plugin, in the order you meet them. The five numbered stages are the bowl workflow; the rest sit alongside it.
1 · Plan & setup
- Field
FIELD-001Draws the playing field outline for a sport and the focal point every sightline is measured to. Start here —...the rest of the chain hangs off field_info. - Startline Rect
STARTLINE-001Start line for the front row, offset outward from the field edge by a long-side and a short-side distance. Optional...rounded or chamfered corners. - Startline Capsule
STARTLINE-003Start line as a capsule - two equal semicircles joined by straight sides. The classic athletics track outline. - Startline Oval
STARTLINE-002Start line as an oval around the field — four tangent arcs, or a true ellipse. Use when the bowl...has no straight sides. - Custom Startline
STARTLINE-004Start line taken from a curve you draw - aligned to the field frame for a preset field, used as...drawn for a custom field. Use when no preset shape fits. An open curve gives a stand with two free ends. - Axis
AXIS-002Divides the start line into the planes each stand section is placed on. Straight runs are split by an even...module, arcs by a fixed count — so section spacing follows the shape. - Custom Axis
AXIS-003Section placement planes from axis curves you draw yourself. Each curve's crossing with the start line becomes an axis, numbered...along the start line - those numbers are what Cut refers to.
2 · Section
- Section
SECTION-002Turns the tread lines you draw into a tier section — rows, nosing and eye points, and the closed profile...the stand is swept from. Draw one line per step; the component sorts them and works out the tiers. - Auto Section
SECTION-001Works out the risers for you. Give it the tread depths and the minimum C-value you want to hold, and...it raises each step by the smallest Riser Step increment that still clears that C-value - the shallowest bowl that meets the target. The front row starts on the base line - the start line as the axes facet it - so wire the same field, focal point and Base Line that Section takes. Bake tread_lines if you want to fine-tune the steps by hand in Section afterwards. - Section Plus
HANDRAIL-001Adds the things a bare section does not have: the front barrier or handrail, accessible (wheelchair) rows, and the sightline...check over the barrier. Sits between Section and Stand 2D — pure section geometry stays in Section. - Table Section
SECTION-003Builds the tier sections from the numbers in your workbook instead of lines you draw. Wire the book from Table...In, plus the same field, focal point and Base Line that Section takes. The barrier settings live in the workbook too, so this one component does what Section and Section Plus do together - the outputs are the same.
3 · 2D layout
- Stand 2D
STAND2D-002Sweeps each tier section around the axis planes and flattens it into tread rings in plan. Everything downstream — seats,...vomitories, cuts — works on these rings. - Vomitory
VOMITORY-001Places the vomitories — the tunnels spectators enter the bowl through — in the tread rings, and sets how each...one gets down to the concourse: flat, stepped, stair or ramp. - Seat
SEAT-001Fills the tread rings with seats, breaking each row at the vomitories and aisles, and flags rows that break the...egress limits. Wheelchair spaces are placed here too. - Custom Seat
SEAT-002Same seat placement as Seat, but the vomitories, aisles and even the seats come from curves you draw instead of...being generated. Use it where the automatic layout cannot express what you want. - Cut
CUT-001Cuts the bowl to shape — keep or remove a whole span between two axis numbers, or everything on one...side of each curve you draw. Seats, aisles, vomitories and rings are all filtered together. - Opening Cut
CUT-002Punches local entrance openings through the stand — between two axis numbers, or under a closed curve you draw. Unlike...Cut it removes only what the opening covers, and it records the new edges as railing lines.
4 · 3D solids
- Stand 3D
STAND-001Sweeps the closed section profile around the axis planes into the solid tier bodies. This is the raw stand —...cuts and openings are applied later by Stand 3D Plus. - Vom 3D
VOM3D-001Builds the vomitories as solids — the side and end walls, the portal opening punched through, and the stair or...ramp down to the concourse. - Stand 3D Plus
BUILD-001Builds the 3D bowl: cuts the stand solids with everything the 2D chain decided — shape cuts, entrance openings, vomitories...— and lifts the seats and aisle steps to their real tread heights. - Rail 3D
RAIL-001Builds the railings and parapets as solids — the front barrier, the rear parapet, the edges left by a cut,...and the walls around entrance openings. In a bowl assembled from several stands, a per-tier list shorter than the assembled tier count is read per stand: three values set tiers 1, 2 and 3 of every stand. Give one per assembled tier to set each on its own. - Assemble Bowl
UTIL-004Assembles the final bowl plan before Stand 3D Plus: merges parallel seat layouts (tiers renumbered) with their stand solids, and...previews the finished plan. Cut ends are pulled where they are cut - Cut, Opening Cut and Seat each carry their own offset. - Seat 3D
SEAT3D-001Puts a chair and a seated spectator target on every seat of the built bowl. Wire the Stand 3D Plus...BRD output. The ports carry one merged preview mesh per tier so twenty thousand seats stay light; bake the component itself (right-click, Bake) to plant real block instances - one definition, one instance per seat - so the document stays light too. The spectator is a flat target whose eye mark sits exactly on the eye point the C-value analysis measures from.
5 · Analysis
- Section analysis
ANALYSIS-001Checks the sightline over the row in front, row by row, and reports the C-value. Draws the sightlines and dimensions...so you can see where the view fails. - C-value Seat
ANALYSIS-004Paints every seat with its own C-value, measured in 3D from that seat's eye to its own focus. Wire the...Stand 3D Plus BRD output. A railing or vomitory wall in front of a seat counts as the obstruction too; add Rail 3D RLD for the railings' exact built tops. - C-value Tread
ANALYSIS-005Paints each tread band with the C-value of one representative section taken between two axes. One value per axis gap,...so it is light enough to leave on while you tune the section. C-value Seat measures every seat instead - the two differ most on curves, where one section cannot stand for the whole band. - C-value Section Check
ANALYSIS-006Lays every axis section out on its own sheet so you can flip through them. One scale for the whole...set, chosen so the largest section fits, and every section sits at the same place on its sheet. - C-value Map
ANALYSIS-007Lays the C-value map out flat - one sheet per tier, named TIER 1, TIER 2 and so on, with...the seat layout drawing, the colored map and the tier's minimum, average and pass rate written top-left. In a bowl merged from several stands, tiers with the same tier label share one sheet named after it - by default that is the same tier number in each stand, or give Table Section tier_label values such as LOW. Wire the CMD output of C-value Seat for a seat map, or of C-value Tread for a tread map - one at a time. - Seat Map
SEATMAP-001Groups the seats into zones - the pieces left when the aisles, vomitories and cuts are taken out of the...tier - and gives every seat a readable address like "T1 05 S 25": prefix and tier number, zone number counted around the bowl in the axis direction, then the seat number running from the lowest tread up. In a bowl merged from several stands, tiers with the same tier label - by default the same tier number in each stand - count as one tier: one number, one run of zones around the bowl, one sheet. Wheelchair units belong to their zone too, numbered "W 1", "W 2". Outputs the SMD bundle for Seat View and Seat 3D, a zone map laid out one sheet per tier, and flat tables ready for a spreadsheet. Wire the BRD output of Stand 3D Plus; wire SHD from Sheet Setup to place the sheets - Seat View
VIEWSEAT-001Looks through a spectator's eyes. Wire the Seat Map SMD and pick a seat by tier, zone and seat number...- or type its address like "T1 05 S 25" - press apply, and the perspective viewport jumps to that seat's analysis eye point looking at its own focal point - the same eye and focus the C-value map measures. Turn live on and the yaw and pitch sliders let you look around from the fixed eye point, so you can judge a vomitory rail or a cut-edge railing exactly as the seated spectator would see it. - View Axis
VIEWAXIS-001Tags every axis with its number — a guide line running out from each axis point into a circle holding...the axis name (A0, A1, ...). The numbers are the same ones Cut and Opening Cut expect in Axis From / Opening From, so you can read them here and leave those heavy previews off. - View Limit
VIEWLIMIT-001Draws the optimum and maximum viewing distance circles for a sport and counts how many seats fall outside. Reference only...— it never removes a seat; wire Limit Curves into Cut if you want it enforced.
Tables
- Excel Workbook
IO-007Creates an .xlsx workbook you can fill in with Excel, with the input pages already laid out, and hands the...reference to Table In and Table Out. Give the project folder, optionally a file name (the folder name is used when empty), and press Run - an existing file connects, a missing file is made there, and either way it opens in Excel. No internet or sign-in is needed, so this is the path that works on closed networks. The reference is saved with the Grasshopper file; because it is a file path, moving the workbook or the .gh means picking the file again. The 10-series pages are yours and are written only at creation; the 80-series pages belong to the plugin. - Google Workbook
IO-004Creates a spreadsheet you can fill in by hand, with the input pages already laid out, and hands the reference...to Table In and Table Out. Press Run once - the reference is saved with the Grasshopper file, so reopening it stays connected to the same workbook. After that you only edit the sheet and press Run on Table In; you do not need this component again. The 10-series pages are yours and are written only at creation; the 80-series pages belong to the plugin. - Table In
IO-005Reads the workbook's input pages and gives you the values to build from. Wire the workbook reference and press run....Values are looked up by column and key name, so inserting rows or reordering columns in the spreadsheet is safe. What was read is stored with the Grasshopper file, so the canvas keeps working without pressing run again. - Table Out
IO-006Writes analysis results into the workbook's result pages. Wire the workbook reference and the result objects - section, analysis, seat...map or C-value map - and press run. Each result type knows which page it belongs on. The plugin owns those pages and rewrites them whenever the results change - the same results are not sent twice to the same workbook unless you right-click and choose Send again. Copy rows into the input pages if you want to keep and edit them.
Tools
- Input PanelPick an Antlion component and set every value it takes, with sensible defaults shown. For when you are not sure...what to wire in.
- C-value Legend
LEGEND-001Builds an explicit color legend for the C-value maps. Set the first number, the last number and the band size...- the bands become <min, min to min+step, ... , >=max, each with its own color. Leave colors unwired for the built-in ramp, or supply your own (interpolated when fewer than the band count). Wire scheme into C-value Seat or C-value Tread; the map is then colored by these bands and C-value Map prints this legend on every sheet. Detail Mode on lists the two view-cut states (a seat row or a railing hiding the focal point, C<0) in their own colors; off folds them into the lowest band. It also carries the not-graded states - OPEN, FRONT, EMPTY and NA - as a fixed gray series, so every gray patch on the map is named on the sheet; the report output explains why each state appears and how to clear it. The component itself shows the legend on the canvas. - Sheet SetupHolds the sheet layout settings in one place - the paper size, how many sheets per row, the scale rounding,...margins and the text style. Wire the SHD output into C-value Section Check, C-value Map and Seat Map so every sheet component lays out the same way from a single setup. Leave SHD unwired and each of them uses the defaults this component starts with. Where the sheets start is not part of it - each sheet component keeps its own Origin, so their sheets do not land on top of each other.
- Slider MergeA stack of sliders in one component — each row Dk drives output Rk. Zoom in to see the small...+ and - buttons: the ones beside the sliders add or remove rows, the ones on the right add or remove outputs. Double-click a row label to set the range all rows share, or double-click a value to type it. Saves wiring a dozen separate sliders into per-tier inputs.
- Toggle MergeA stack of toggles in one component — each row Dk drives output Rk. Click a row to flip it....Zoom in to see the small + and - buttons: the ones beside the toggles add or remove rows, the ones on the right add or remove outputs. Saves wiring a dozen separate toggles into per-tier inputs.
- Data Gate
GATE-001Holds the wire shut. Whatever changes upstream, nothing downstream recomputes until you press PASS - then the data at D...goes through R once and stays there. Put it between the 2D bowl chain and the heavy 3D build or analysis components: edit the bowl lag-free, press to update. The Gate Switch component opens and closes every gate on the canvas at once. Reopening a file behaves like the moment it was saved: a gate that was holding data picks it up again on load (one full compute, like opening any normal file), and a gate that was empty stays shut. - Gate Switch
GATE-002One switch for every Data Gate on the canvas - no wires needed. LIVE holds every gate open, so data...flows as if PASS were held down and the whole chain stays current. HOLD closes them all again; each gate keeps the last data that went through. Keep a single switch per document. - LicenseRegister your Antlion license key.
